Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Samajik Parivartan Prateek Sthal (Ambedkar Memorial Park) (Hindi: डॉ. भीमराव अम्बेडकर सामाजिक परिवर्तन प्रतीक स्थल )(also known as Ambedkar Memorial, Ambedkar Park) is a memorial dedicated to the glory of Phule, Narayan Guru, Shahuji Maharaj, Bhimrao Ambedkar, Kanshi Ram and other who devoted their life for humanity, equality and social justice. This memorial is constructed by Mayawati, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh during the regime of BSP at Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
The foundation stone of the Memorial was first laid in the year 1995. Earlier, the park was named ‘Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Udyan’. During 1997, it was renamed as Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial and the development work continued till 2002-03. Finally in 2007, the park was further renovated and developed. It was initially opened for public on 14 April 2008 by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. The entire memorial is built using red sandstone brought from Rajasthan. It is built in the posh locality of Gomti Nagar which is the largest planned residential colony of India. Cost of the memorial is estimated at seven billion Rupees.Its name was changed from Ambedkar park to Bhimrao Ambedkar memorial in May 2002.
This construction is the heart of the entire Memorial. The sanctum sanctorum consists of many statues depicting the biography of Ambedkar. There are four doors in opposite directions. This is a construction in the shape of flower with four petals.
Opposite to Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial, the Sangrahalay(Museum) is located which is constructed in an area of about 2.5 acre (11,008 sq.m.) The building has two domes on its top. It contains large statues of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj, Shri Narayan Guru, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and Shri Kanshiram. Another building consists of 18′ tall marble statues of Tathagat Gautam Buddha, Sant Kabir das, Sant Ravidas, Guru Ghasidas and Shri Birsa Munda.
